record-breaking number of border crossings

It's more than four times the number of border crossings in September 2019.

There were nearly 2.4 million migrant arrests at the nation’s southwestern border this fiscal year.

Encounters of family units increased by 4 percent from August, but the majority of those crossing the border were single adults—almost three-fourths of all crossings.

Encounters of unaccompanied children increased 5 percent. In September, the average number of unaccompanied children in CBP custody was 485 per day.

The busiest sectors were right here in Texas: the El Paso, Del Rio, and Rio Grande Valley sectors.

Del Rio Chief Patrol Agent Jason Owens says the situation at the border is a humanitarian crisis that he and his Border Patrol colleagues deal with on a daily basis.
