Rewind to January 2013 I was 15 years old about to have my first child, had dropped out of high school in 9th grade, obtained my GED, & started training for my CNA license prior to giving birth so i could have a means to support my daughter in the financial spectrum.

Exactly 1 year and 1 month after giving birth on February 8, 2014 i was struck by a truck at a corner store in my home town of Hebbronville TX which shattered my pelvis, i began screaming uncontrollably as my body & mind were in shock. In Hebbronville we do not have a hospital or any emergency rooms you have to travel or get taken by ambulance which is a 50 min or longer drive. Once i arrived by ambulance to LMC i was then immediately transferred to University Hospital in San Antonio for further and better evaluation.

I ended up getting 2-3 metal rods put in to hold my pelvis bone structure together. i spent about two weeks in the hospital having to do breathing exercises to re strengthen my lungs as well as learn to re-walk without further damaging my pelvis while my surrounding tissue was also re healing. When i was finally able to go home i had to use a walker to get around & take blood thinners due to my drastic mobility change. NOT EVERYONE IS THIS LUCKY. I say this having a brother who is paralyzed from a pool accident that happened when he was 2 years old. I could not have legs, i could not be able to walk, dance, go grocery shop, take my kids for a walk and so many other little things that are always taken for granted by others but definitely not by me.
